Cold and Comfort

The weather finally shifted...instead of being shorts and t-shirt weather we have what approximates for Fall here.  Colder, somewhat blustery, but still some very nice sun-drenched afternoons.  The best part is that when the sun does set, it is cold enough to enjoy food that is a bit more wintry and of the comfort food variety.  The Hachis Parmentier fell squarely in that category.  It was sort of like a Shepherd's Pie but I liked it much much more then a Shepherd's Pie.  It was a challenge to make sure we didn't eat the whole thing warm from the oven, since I wanted to make sure I had leftovers for the following dinner.

And of course...the obligatory pictures.
(which I don't think I've mentioned in awhile, but you can click on them and see larger versions)

It was a long week this week.  A bit heavy on the cold and a bit lean on the comfort.  But there are little things that no matter what else is going on, can be enjoyed like coming home to a dog that is excited and happy to see me walk through the door.
